ScreenLine 1992-2022,
30 years of looking ahead

In 1992, the patent application for the first ScreenLine system was filed, the first step on a path where we have always looked beyond the goals achieved. As we retrace the first 30 years of ScreenLine, we renew our commitment to continue on the path of constant innovation for another 30 years... and beyond.

1992

ScreenLine is born

ScreenLine originated from Francesco Pellini's idea to develop a moving system for window screen inserts that would keep the characteristics of the window insert itself unaltered, thus allowing one to capture the many advantages guaranteed by its absolute airtightness.
After years of research and development, this intuition materialized into the patent application for the first ScreenLine system, filed in 1992.

1993

From manual to motorized

Thanks to the introduction of the motorized system, since 1993 it has been possible to operate ScreenLine with an internal motor activated by wall-mounted buttons.

1994

The second patent

The cord-operated system (Sistema C) was introduced with the second patent in 1994 and allowed Pellini to become the first company in the world to fully raise a pleated blind by means of the front coupling of two magnets through the glass, definitively establishing ScreenLine and contributing to its worldwide success.

1998

The ScreenLine franchise network is born

In 1998, the ScreenLine licensee network was born, a network of production units present throughout the world that allows for a rapid and competent response to market demands and for gathering useful insights for the development of new solutions.

2003

Pellini patents the first roller blind for insulating glass units

In 2003, we patented the roller blind in insulating glass, a solution that made it possible to combine the qualities of Verosol metallized fabrics with the advantages offered by the insulation of double glazing, thus finding a new way to meet the needs of visual contact with the outside, privacy, and comfort.

2008

The battery-powered motorized system is introduced

In 2008, the battery-powered motorized system was introduced, the innovative solution that made it possible to bring the benefits of motorization into homes without having to redo the electrical system.

2009

The building with the highest number of double-glazed window panes

In 2009 in Belo Horizonte (Brazil), the Cidade Administrativa de Minas Gerais (CAMG) was completed. Designed by the internationally renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer, with its approximately 22,000 blinds, it became the building with the highest number of glass window blinds on its facade.

2010

V95, the low-emissivity lamella

The low-emissivity V95 louver was developed in collaboration with Europe's leading nanotechnology research institutes: the louver's special coating helps reduce glass temperature as well as solar factor and thermal transmittance values.

2011

Pellini CZ is born

Pellini CZ was founded in 2011 to increase production capacity in response to the growing demand for ScreenLine systems. In 2022, the new headquarters was inaugurated, 12 months after it had been destroyed by a tornado.

2012

Warm edge spacer with guide

In 2012, the guided warm edge spacer bar was introduced, which ensures perfect airtightness and improves the thermal insulation of the insulating glass unit. The combination with the V95 blade maximizes the energy performance of the glass-shading system.

2013

Brushless motor

Brushless motors are brushless, therefore not subject to wear, and extremely quiet. The ScreenLine solar screens with an integrated brushless motor can be integrated into home automation networks.

2014

The sliding system

The sliding system was born from listening to demands for movement speed coming from the English market: the blind is raised and adjusted using a sliding magnetic cursor.

2015

Finglas is born

Finglas is the glassworks of the Pellini Group, combining expertise in the world of glass and solar shading. Testing new solar shading systems integrated into their natural habitat is a decisive factor in the R&D process.

Let's keep looking beyond

New application and control opportunities for ScreenLine motorized systems and a newly developed screening specifically for insulating glass curtains. Once again, we are paving a new path and we fully intend to continue for another 30 years... and beyond.

ScreenLine by Pellini 1992-2022: the series

We retraced 30 years of ScreenLine's history, development, and application, and talked about future challenges and projects. From the idea of developing a curtain for insulating glass to its worldwide success, from the basement tests in the late 1980s to develop the first magnetic system, to how we daily support designers in applying ScreenLine to every type of building. Francesco and Alessandro Pellini, Giovanni Nicolosi, Luca Papaiz, Paolo Durante, and Sara Novara are the protagonists of this series dedicated to ScreenLine, which retraces 30 years of development and application and presents future challenges and projects.
